about

From the Quarterdeck

These songs originated from working and singing with children, or in response to their needs. They aim to empower children and celebrate their individuality. They also aim to rejoice in togetherness, caring and mischief.

They are a tribute to childcare workers, whose reward is not much more than seeing the children flourish under their care, but what a reward that can be.

Treat the choruses as a challenge, sing them in the shower. Do like the pirates did and sing them as you dig for treasure or scrub the decks. Up aloft, me buckoes, and sing out!

Margaret usually sings unaccompanied, favouring the folk tradition and some select contemporary writers. ... more
